What is barbara aland?

Barbara Aland (born Barbara Ehlers; April 12, 1937) is a German theologian and biblical scholar. She is a leading expert on the New Testament text and has been a professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms-University of Münster since 1983. Along with her husband, Kurt Aland, she co-edited the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament, which is widely used by scholars today. She has also conducted significant research on early Christian manuscripts and the history of the Bible's transmission. In addition to her scholarly work, Aland has been an advocate for gender equality in the church and has published works on the role of women in Christianity.
